Blogs May Be a Wealth Hazard
This was taken from Wired's website and posted here as yet another example of personal web content costing people their jobs. Blogs and comics are not your personal diary people. A diary goes under your mattress, and a blog is posted for the world to see.
  The awkwardness of it all

As this week's comic suggests, I have been a naughty little monkey of late. I've been putting in some aggressive hours at the office. As almost none of you might be aware, that effort recently paid off in the form of a promotion I was angling for. What does this all mean? Now I get some reward for the hard work, but I also get to assume a little extra responsibility and a slightly larger share of the risk.

This change of heart at the office (and the promotion it helped secure) has made it increasingly difficult for me to enter a meaningful or entertaining rant. Why, you might ask? One need look no further than the Wired website, which includes yet another article today talking about how blogs and jobs don't often mix. I enjoy doing Faustian Deal, and I appreciate the catharsis that these rants bring me. I am not stoked about the prospect of losing my job over it though. It just means care must always remain part of the equation.

I am not trying to imply that future postings will center around the cuteness of puppies or the inhumanity of the new Hardee's "Monster Burger". I am merely going out of my way, yet again, to reiterate that Faustian Deal is not, in any way, about my current job. With that mantra always at the fore of my mind, FD will continue to be about everything else in my life that enfuriates or amuses me.

So, like I was saying ... about puppies ...

  TJF Designs

As you may have read in the email, i've added a friend's link in our banner exchange section. Jim recently started up a side business doing web development. i really can't say i've encountered a more self-motivated person in my life - he pretty much went from not using a computer to learning databases, javascript, video and even flash in something like two years. If you're looking to get a site developed at a reasonable price, have a look at TJF Designs. Ask about the FD special (so he can look at you funny, since i haven't even told him about it).

Not much else to say this week - all my time not spent working or drawing the comic went to the new gameboy. I'd forgotten just how awesome Mario 64 was - one of the few, few game series that made the 2D to 3D leap in style. Also recently picked up Final Fantasy (FF) I + II for the GBA. That's an example of a game series that made the initial leap from 2D to 3D in style (FF7), and then continued leaping straight into the toilet (FF8), and even leapt just far enough out (FF9) to flush before jumping back in to take the final plummet (FF10).
