As the weeks have worn on, I've noticed an alarming tendency for my character to be drinking, drunk, or recovering. I think a quick count would suggest something like a third to half of the strips involve my imbalanced interaction with alcohol. I need to make it abundantly clear that this is not normal for me. This isn't the time for me to say that I "never touch the stuff", that too would be a lie. Sometimes weeks go by where I won't have a drop, and other times I'll have 2 bottles of wine in one night. My problem is that when I do drink, things tend to get interesting. The situations arising as a result of my intoxication often provide amusing anecdotes that I can retell for weeks. It is a valuable social lubricant for me, that allows me to better interact with people. I wouldn't generally consider myself the 'best socialized', but a couple of long-island iced-teas and suddenly I can successfully navigate a party environment.
I spent some quality time this weekend enjoying Pirates of the Caribbean on DVD. Some people might not care for the film, but I found it to be one of the best movies of 2003. Johnny Depp really made the film for me, and the undead pirate effects were also highly entertaining. In the final analysis, Return of the King edged it out as my "top pick", but coming in second to 'the King' isn't doing too bad. if you enjoy being dragged through a near-eternity of boredom with the occasional half-hearted poorly-conceived animal gag to bring you out of your coma long enough to experience a brief spark of hatred of all things stupid, this is the movie for you!
i'm not going to waste any more bytes of our bandwidth quota on it.
